Linda left this world and went to be in heaven on 4-13-15. Linda was born March 18, 1962 in El Paso, Texas to Liliane Gillenwater and the late Larry D. Gillenwater. She fought very hard against terrible complications from her long-term diabetes. Our hearts are broken because we kept hoping for a miracle but her body could not fight the damages that her illness caused. She was a sweet woman always worrying about everyone, frustrated that she could not help you out. She reached out to people all over the world on her computer. She was a gentle soul and loving daughter, sister, aunt, and grand-aunt. Linda was a computer analyst and loved to paint, write, sew, and was great with crafts. She was bright and very gifted in everything she did, especially in computer technology and the arts. She graduated from Reynolds High School in 1980 and went to work at Reynold's Healthcare. She left Winston-Salem and went to work at Infocel in Raleigh, writing programs for various police departments. She was preceded in death by her father, who we are sure is with her now. She is survived by her loving mother, Liliane Gillenwater, her loving siblings Stella Gillenwater of Winston-Salem, Diana Hodges and her husband Jeff of East Bend, Shane Gillenwater and his wife Penny of Yadkinville, Shanna Gillenwater of Winston-Salem, Luke Gillenwater and his wife Laura Lee of Raleigh, Larry Gillenwater and his wife Cathy of East Bend. She is also survived by aunts Monique Poitou of Blois, France, Sylvie Briatte of Paris, France, and Patricia Nelson of Virginia along with a host of beloved cousins. She also leaves to cherish her memories seven nieces and nephews: Jeffrey Hodges Jr., Wesley Gillenwater, Misti Gillenwater, and Cory Gillenwater all of East Bend, Megan Gillenwater, Anna Gillenwater, and Rachel Gillenwater of Yadkinville, and another little one due to arrive in October in Raleigh (No 8!), along with a grand-nephew, Matthew Jaden born four months ago. She adored all of them! Linda suffered a great deal but had always hoped that she would get better and lose herself in the beauty of this world. She loved everything in nature: birds, flowers, and all animals including her dogs, Jace and Zoe, and her cats Mooch, Lucky, Furby, and Checkers. Rest in peace, sweet angel. You are loved so much and we will be together again someday. Online condolences may be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
