Mrs. Mittie Josephine Hyatt Brown, 87, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Brown was born June 9, 1927 to Lacy and Linda Barker Hyatt. She was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church until her health declined. She worked as a CNA caring for others for 22 years. Mrs. Brown enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Somers Brown; an infant daughter, Joann Brown; a brother, Jimmie Hyatt; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Macemore. She is survived by four children, Gray (Debbie) Brown, Faye Macemore, Debbie (Alvis) Groce, and Denna (Tommy) Shore; one grandchild, Andrew (Alisha) Brown; two great grandchildren, Beau and Bella Brown; one sister, Bernice Hall; and one brother, Wayne Hyatt. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Souther and Rev. Travis Chipman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Jonesville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Red Cross P.O. Box 4002018 Des Moines, IA 50340-2018 or to the charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Susan Hines and her staff, Dr. Paul Gulley and his staff and the staff of Forsyth Medical Center Palliative Care for all the love, care and support shown to Mrs. Brown and her family.
