Burchette Boonville - Lewis Mathis Burchette, 90, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 at Bermuda Commons Nursing and Rehab. He was born January 22, 1925 in Surry County to the late Lewis Clay Burchette and Ardela Rose West Burchette. Lewis served in the U.S. Army during WWII and he was stationed in Italy. He retired from Chatham's after several years of service. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Stella Morrison Burchette; three sisters; two brothers. Surviving is his daughter, Charlene (Don) Cassidy; granddaughter, Christina Cassidy (Jennifer Myers); special niece, Bronwyn Belcher; special nephew, Floyd (Kathy) Morrison, special friend, Patricia Russell; and several other nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Boonville Baptist Church by the Rev. John Brown and the Rev. Ken Boaz. Burial will follow at Boonville Cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and N.C. National Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Boonville Baptist Church.
