Bobby Gray Gatton

Bobby Gray Gatton, 69, passed away Monday June 29, 2015. He was born July 13, 1945 to the late Thomas Winfield Gatton and Nora Hudspeth Gatton. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and also a Sunday school teacher. Mr. Gatton was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Mr. Gatton loved his family, his church, and also his church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Carol Jean Mash; two brothers Jerrell Gatton and Leo Gatton; a granddaughter Ashley Brooke Sturdivant. Surviving are his wife Mary Perry Gatton; three daughters Rita Sturdivant, Monica (David) Craver, Dawn (Kris) Eads; grandchildren Heather Collins, Jacob Craver, Jackson Craver, Kendall Eads, Connor Eads; great granddaughters Chloe and Zoe Collins; sisters Beulah Childress, Beatrice Dobbins, Frances Hudler; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday July 1, 2015 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. His funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday July 2, 2015 at Oak Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Travis Chipman and Rev. Larry Lefler. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to say a very special thanks to two special friends Eddie Salley and Russell Nixon, and also Dr. Grote and the 9th floor Oncology Unit at Forsyth Medical Center. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Oak Grove Baptist Church Parking Lot Fund 8087 Windsor Road Hamptonville, NC 27020. Online condolences may be made at www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
