Betty Sue Poindexter

Boonville Mrs. Betty Sue Bates Poindexter, 61, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Poindexter was born December 12, 1953 in Surry County to Willie and Josie Roberts Bates. She was a member of Gospel Chapel Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Poindexter was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Alvin Bell and Robert Poindexter; and a cousin, Brittany Poindexter. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Ronald Lee Poindexter; two sons, Tyler Poindexter and Chad (Jennifer) Curry; four grandchildren, Kaleb and Kelsey Curry, Shauna Klask, and Zachery Ragsdale; three sisters, Thelma (Hank) Durham, Nancy Bell, and Shelby Bates; two brothers, Bill Bates and Ralph (Tesheka) Bates; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted Monday, July 20, 2015 at 2:00PM at Gospel Chapel Church with Rev. Joe Wagoner, Rev. Bill Bates, Rev. Terry Coe, and Rev. Ralph Casstevens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mtn. Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267 Yadkinville, NC 27055. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to everyone who visited during Betty's sickness, brought food, sent a card, and said a prayer.
