Welborn Jonesville- Mr. Ralph Welborn, 88, of Bullins Road passed away peacefully Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. He was born April 17, 1927 in Wilkes County to the late Charles Lee and Mattie Macy Welborn. Mr. Welborn was retired from Chatham Manufacturing with over 42 years of service. He was a member of Swan Creek Baptist church and was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1945-1946. In addition to his parents, Mr. Welborn was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice Brooks Welborn on December 15, 2014; and by his sisters, Kathleen Welborn Wells and her husband, Manuel, Mary Welborn Tucker, and her husband, Earl; Hallie Welborn, and by a brother, Harold Welborn. Surviving are his children, Marquita (Rex) Gregory, Dennis Welborn and friend, Ann Snyder; David Welborn; 4 grandchildren, Renee (Shane) Cheek, Derek Gregory, Jennifer Welborn, Jessica Welborn; 4 great-grandchildren, Bryson and Conner Gregory, Jada and Tanner Cheek; sisters, Betty Joe Welborn (Curt) Bame, Ann Welborn (Howard) Gray; brothers, Dwight Welborn and wife, Evelyn; Blaine Welborn and his late wife, Mary; R. J. Welborn and George Welborn; and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Welborn. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Swan Creek Baptist Church. His funeral service will follow the visitation 2:00 PM Wednesday at Swan Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Bishop and Rev. Don Ball. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
