Hazel Joyner Reavis Cooke

October 4, 1926 — September 15, 2015

Hazel Joyner Reavis Cooke, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in the afternoon at home. Mrs. Cooke has four surviving children: Joan R. Holcomb (the late, Wayne), Ronnie Dale Reavis (Mary), Kenneth Joyner Reavis (Carolyn), Samuel D. Reavis (Debbie), and one son, William Steven Reavis (Deceased). Mrs. Cooke is survived by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Dewey and Mattie Hepler Joyner, first husband, William Alfred Reavis, second husband, Washington Leon Cooke, two brothers, Graham Joyner and Norman Joyner, and one sister Helen Joyner Smith (Clint), as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cooke grew up in Davie County and attended school in Iredell County. She was a life -time member of Rock Springs Baptist Church in Iredell County near Turkeyfoot. She lived most of her adult life in Yadkin County. Visitation will be at South Oak Ridge Baptist Church from 4:30 - 5 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2015. Dr. Phil Beavers will deliver the eulogy at 5 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Cooke's sons, grandsons, and great grandsons will serve as Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers. The family appreciates everyone's prayers and acts of kindness during this time of grief and wish to thank Mountain Valley Hospice, Yadkinville branch, as well as Mrs. Cooke's long - time caregivers, Joan Holyfield and Tina Dalton.
