Robyn Renee Pruitt November 10, 1951 - October 7, 2015 Oma, Mama, Wife, Sister, Daughter, Friend, Writer and Explorer. Her journey began in Elgin, North Dakota and she found her way to our Carolina home by way of El Paso, Texas. She was an inspiration and friend to all that she met along the way. Dear Friends, Our Oma passed on Wednesday in the home that she and Dad made together for over 40 years. She was surrounded by ones that she loved and there is no doubt our God knew this was the way that she wanted to leave us. As cancer took her strength, Dad and her dear sister Toni were there to hold her hand through the toughest of times. She, as always, handled every trial with grace, faith and compassion for those around her. Our home has known only the love and laughter of her children, grandchildren, family and friends and she was the center of it. From the young girls in her Sunday school class, who now have families of their own, to her coworkers at US Airways, to the complete strangers she befriended while tirelessly working to make and maintain family connections around the world; her love and compassion will be imprinted on our hearts, forever guiding us through this valley. Above all, Oma was blessed with a gift to make unbreakable connections with others, especially children. She loved all children, and they her, almost instantly. Her ability to soothe and calm was something that one could only believe if you were fortunate enough to witness it. However, she held a special place in her heart for her own children and grandchildren. She was, without question, our biggest fan and supporter; going to every game, match, art exhibit, show and concert that was humanly possible to attend, in any conditions. When we started families of our own, she cherished every opportunity to help raise and watch over our children as well, often begging to have them over to spend the night. In many ways she was a mother all of her life. When her father passed at a young age she gladly stepped in to help Grandma raise Toni which created a very unique bond. No matter what the need, she was always there for her sister. Even after marrying Dad and moving from El Paso to Lone Hickory, she flew with Toni to her first interview helping to shape her career. Later Mom would convince her to move to North Carolina where Toni still calls home. Our Oma's love, sweet spirit and beautiful smile will always be with us, and by faith we know we will see her again someday. She beat cancer on Wednesday when she went home to meet our Lord and Savior in heaven.
