Boonville Glenn Norris Brown passed away on November 2, 2015 at the age of 97. Glenn is survived by Gwendolyn Brown, his wife of 75 years, and three daughters: Dorothy Hutchens, Evelyn (Wes) Hutchens, and Nelda (Peter) Haines. He has nine grandchildren: Steve Hutchens, Sylvia (Wesley) Foster; Wesley Jr. (Susan), Robert (Holly), Walter (Doreen) and Albert Hutchens, Patricia (Anthony) Taylor; Becki (Andy) Peterson and Matt Haines. There are ten great grandchildren: Samuel (Julianne), Andrew, Beth, Sydney, Layne, Thad and Ellie Hutchens, Haala Taylor, Taft and Kelcey Peterson; six step great grandchildren: Thomas, Timothy and Erika Foster, Bryant, Aurora, and Aaron Taylor; and one great, great granddaughter: Emma Hutchens. He is also survived by his sister, Jenny Lind Brown. Mr. Brown is predeceased by his son-in-law, Larry Hutchens; his parents, three brothers and one sister. Glenn was well known locally as a skilled carpenter, farmer and gardener. He was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, and choir member. Earlier in his life, he sang in a quartet and the Boonville Men's Chorus. As a teenager, Glenn placed his faith in Christ as his Savior and told how there was a void in his life that only Christ could fill. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, November 6th, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Gentry Funeral Service, 5108 US-601, Yadkinville, NC. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, SECU Hospice House, 320 Maple Street, Yadkinville, NC 27055; or, Swan Creek Baptist Church, 2501 Swan Creek Road, Jonesville, NC 28642. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the care givers and Hospice staff that helped the family during the final weeks of Glenn's life.
