Hunter Boonville - Mrs. Nell W. Hunter, 87, of US Highway 601 passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. She was born February 27, 1928 in Yadkin County to the late Homer and Lucille Williams. Mrs. Hunter was a member of Boonville Baptist Church where she served the church as a Sunday School Teacher for several years. Earlier in her life, she worked several years with the Yadkin County A.S.C.S. Office, worked with Spainhour's Department Store in Elkin, and ran the Town and Country Grocery Store in Boonville. She was an active member of the Friends of the Boonville Library Committee. Her greatest joy was the love she had for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Through the years she was a devoted wife to her husband's 22 year political career, and enjoyed traveling to the various political functions across the area and state. Mrs. Hunter worked on the family farm with her husband for 50 years, and was a loving homemaker to her family as she enjoyed cooking for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Grady J. Hunter on January 29, 2001; and by her brothers and their wives, Bryce and Carolyn Williams and James Hugh and Margaret Williams. Surviving are her devoted children, Glenda H. Chambers, and husband, David of Greensboro; Darlene Hampton and husband, Eddie of Elkin; Lynn Rose and husband, Dale of Jonesville; Brent Hunter and wife, Leshia of Boonville; grandchildren, Brian Rose, Johnathan "J.D." Chambers, Bridget (Josh) Crump, Sarah (Matt) Baldwin, Nathan (Amie) Rose, Nicholas (Danyelle) Hampton, Landon (Autumn) Hunter, Jessica (Chris) Cheek; great-grandchildren, Tristan and Carly Chambers, Sydney and Campbell Baldwin, Jaxon and Zayne Rose, Daniel Hampton; several nieces, a nephew, and many special friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:30PM Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday at Boonville Baptist Church by Rev. John Brown and Rev. Larry Thompson. Burial will follow in the Boonville Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Staff of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital I.C.U. and to the many caregivers especially Terry Pardue for all the loving care given to Mrs. Hunter.
