Ila Marie Turner

Yadkinville Mrs. Ila Marie Hawks Turner, 90, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mrs. Turner was born July 7, 1925 in Carroll County, VA to George and Lily Acres Hawks. She was a member of Gospel Way Baptist Church. Mrs. Turner loved flowers and enjoyed cooking. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Gurney Turner; four children, Larry, Tony, and Roger Turner and Faye Snow; one sister, Myrtle Jenkins; and four brothers, Melvin, Chester Lee, Marvin, and Howard Hawks. She is survived by three children, Joann (David) Freeman, James Leroy (Annie Pearl) Turner, and John Ray (Karen) Turner; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Margie Hardy. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, November 8, 2015 at 2:00PM at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville with Rev. Dean Chandler officiating. Burial will follow at Gospel Way Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for all the loving care given to Mrs. Turner.
