II Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. October 31, 1943 - November 19, 2015. Mr. Arthur Jesse York, 72, of East Bend was welcomed into the arms of his Lord, early Thursday morning at Yadkin Nursing Care Center. Born October 31, 1943 in Yadkin County, the son of the late Henry Jesse York and Magdalene Harmon York. He was a graduate of Courtney High School where he developed his love of playing football, basketball and baseball. He was a retired furniture maker by trade, after many years of service with Drexel Heritage and Century Reproductions. He loved his church and church family. Arthur was a faithful and devoted member of Believers Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, treasurer, choir member and any other area where he could lend a hand. Prior, he was a charter member and was instrumental in the organizing and establishing of Northwood Baptist Church where he devoted his time, tools, talents and treasure for many years for the furtherance of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is survived by his soulmate and his loving, devoted wife of 52 years, Peggy Davis York, of the home. He is also survived by two children, his daughter Anita York, and son, Shannon (Emily) York; all of East Bend. Also left to cherish his passing is the love of his life, his world, his best buddy, grandson, Jackson Levi York. Also surviving are his brother Kenneth (Peggy) York, and sister, Karen (Mike) Norman, as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Our Dad and Grandfather left us a legacy of hard work, undying devotion to family, a heritage of always doing right, and most importantly, an unwavering, unmovable faith in God. His hobbies included wood working of any kind, where he was always hueing something that he could give to someone else, be it a picture frame, a jewelry box or some other creation from his workshop, as well as watching any kind of sport and spending time with his family. The family will receive friends from 2-3 Sunday, November 22, 2015 with service to follow directly at 3:00 p.m. at Believer's Baptist Church in Yadkinville with Rev. Dean Chandler, Speaker Keith Cates and Rev. Joel Vestal. Burial will follow at Forbush Friends Meeting, East Bend, NC. Special thanks to the Yadkin Nursing Care Center for their excellent care. Also, thank you to the many close neighbors who assisted through Dad's sickness. Dad always said, if anyone ever tells you I've died, don't believe them, because I'll be more alive than I've ever been before. See you in the morning!
