Sherrill James Simcox

Hamptonville Mr. Sherrill James Simcox, Sr., 80, passed away Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Woltz Hospice Home. Mr. Simcox was born October 25, 1935 in Yadkin County to Clarence and Blanche Buxton Simcox. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Simcox enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simcox was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Myra Fields Simcox; and two sisters, Betty Sue Simcox and Mary S. Elledge. He is survived by one son, James "Junior" Simcox, Jr.; a step daughter, Amber Dickerson; two nieces, Lynn Newman and Wanda (Donnie) Martin; three nephews, Michael (Judy) Simcox, Dale (Shirley) Hatcher, and Lane Simcox; several great nieces and nephews; and two special K-9 companions, Buster and Fuzzy. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, November 29, 2015 at 3:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Brannon Friends Meeting with full military honors provided by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Rd, Dobson, NC 27017.
