Glyn Edward Holcomb

Glyn Edward Holcomb, 89, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at his home. He was born May 21, 1926 in Yadkin County to the late Everette Edison Holcomb and Grace Dudley Holcomb. Glyn was a member of Center United Methodist Church and also a life member of the VFW Post 10346. He graduated from Yadkinville High School and then joined the US Navy, where he served aboard the LST588 for 2 years and he had his own ship fitter shop. Glyn co-owned and operated Holcomb Repair Shop, where he worked with his dad and his son Edward. He also enjoyed going with his son to Little Big Horn Cattle Farm on Shacktown Road where they raised beef cattle. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughters, Belinda Darlene Holcomb, Patricia Ann Holcomb, Stephanie June Holcomb; infant sister, Elizabeth Holcomb; brothers, Charles Holcomb, Wayne Holcomb. Surviving is his wife, June Davis Holcomb; children, Karen H. Casstevens, Edward Holcomb; grandchildren, Chad (Jill) Casstevens; sister, Edith Davis; several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Center United Methodist Church by Dr. Bonnie Harris and David Shore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
