George Kenneth Shore

Hamptonville Mr. George Kenneth Shore, 81, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Shore was born February 10, 1934 in Yadkin County to Lester and Nora Brooks Shore. He was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church. Mr. Shore retired from the Dept. of Transportation after many years of service, and also worked all his life as a farmer. He enjoyed hunting and watching NASCAR. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shore was preceded in death by two sisters, Carol Sloop and Joann Shaffner; and two nephews, Darrin Shore and Roger Reeves. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Vena Durham Shore; three brothers, Wayne (Vicki) Shore, Charles (Ola) Shore, and Gayle Shore; five sisters, Betty (RV) Reese, Joan Hinson, Dorothy Stone, Brenda (Preston) Stringer, and Donna (Junior) Goforth; special nieces and nephews, Bradley (Michelle) Shore, Emily (Cody) Darnell, Gerald Durham, Larry (Debbie) Durham, and Nelda Leal; also several other nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be conducted Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 2:00PM at Flat Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Tomlin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
