Mrs. Lucille Adelia Gough, 94, of Yadkinville passed away February 19 at her residence. Mrs. Gough was born in the community of Shacktown on January 29, 1921 to the late Paul Alexander Shermer and Laura Conrad Shermer. In addition to her parents, Lucille was also preceded in death by six siblings, Bankston Ford Shermer, John Hugh Shermer, Pauline Shermer Wiles, William Walter Shermer, Lillian Shermer Snipes, Allen Vance Shermer, and is survived by her sister, Margaret Shermer Clodfelter. Lucille was married to and is survived by John Paul Gough on May 28, 1955. Together they had one beloved daughter, June Elizabeth, married to Jeff Snow, both of whom survive. Lucille is also survived by her grandchildren Angela and Nathan Snow and wife Kayla, two great grandchildren, Lillian and Bennett Snow, and several nieces and nephews. In her 94 years, she worked in the surrounding community, holding posts at Hanes Hosiery, National Carbon, Belks, Security Life, and finally at Courtney Elementary School as a teachers aid. As a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church, she enjoyed working with the smaller children and being involved in the church's Women's Missionary Union. Diligent with her hands, patient in her love, and strong in her faith, Lucille is loved by all who knew her, and the memory of her life beautifully lived is cherished and honored by the same. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, February 22 at Bethel Baptist Church by Rev. Jimmy Lancaster. A private family burial at the graveside and open reception in the reception hall will follow. The family would like to express a special thank you to three loving and caring individuals, David, Candace and Charlotte, and also to the loving assistance that was provided by Mountain Valley Hospice.
