Hamptonville Mr. Curtis Odell Chipman, 79, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mr. Chipman was born July 1, 1936 in Surry County to Willie and Daisy Brown Chipman. He was a veteran of the US Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chipman was preceded in death by his wife, Smarah "Smookie" Swaim Chipman; a sister, Frankie Shaffner; a brother, Otis Chipman; and a brother-in-law, Vernon Shaffner. He is survived by a daughter, Tamara "Tammy" (Steve) King; two granddaughters, Raina (David) Lawson and Randa (Andrew) Combs; three great grandchildren, Morgan and Luke Lawson and Bo Combs; nine siblings, Charles (Barbara) Chipman, Cecil (Sue) Chipman, Carl (Susan) Chipman, Robert (Sandy) Chipman, Tommy (Elaine) Chipman, Betty (Daylon) Gentry, Jane (Albert) Darnell, Lola (Buddy) Key, and Dorothy (Windell) Southern; and special friends, Tommy and Brenda Garner. A memorial service will be conducted Friday, February 26, 2016 at 2:00PM at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM prior to the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center and Mtn.
