Joan Collins

Yadkinville Ms. Joan Collins, 79, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. Joan was born January 25, 1937 in Yadkin County to Robert Nelson and Gertie Flynn Collins. She was a wonderful cook and homemaker and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by five sisters, Jennie Vee Warden, Betty Lou Collins, Rosie Lee Warden, Shelba Royall, and Wilma Sue Collins; and three nieces, Paula Driver Chavers, Judy Warden, and Christine Warden. She is survived by three sisters, Edith Sprinkle, Bobbie Jane Collins, and Kay (James) Driver; brother-in-law, John Warden; two nephews, David (Dena) Driver and Wayne (Pam) Warden; and one niece, Janet Warden. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11:00AM at Deep Creek Friends Meeting with Brother Lawrence Warden officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30AM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to everyone who took part in caring for Joan during her life. A special thank you goes to the doctors and nurses at Forsyth Medical Center ICCU and Palliative Care for the excellent care given to Joan in her last days.
