Swaim Hamptonville- Mrs. Lois Gray Swaim, 95, of Asbury Church Road passed away peacefully Thursday, March 31, 2016 at her home. She was born October 12, 1920 in Wilkes County to the late Grover Cleveland and Mollie Holleman Gray. Mrs. Swaim was retired from A.T.&T., formerly known as Western Electric, Inc., with 29 years of service. She was the oldest member of Dennyville Baptist Church, where she served the church faithfully. Mrs. Swaim was a loving mother, grandmother, and homemaker to her family, and especially enjoyed spending time outside working with her flowers. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Swaim; by a son, Roger "Bud" Swaim; 3 sisters, Mae Gray, Molly Gray, Frances Gray Stoneman; and by 6 brothers, Harley, T.C. "Chub", Dwight, Ralph, Clyde, and Frank Gray. Surviving are her daughter, Betty (Mitchell) Mastin, Ronda; Gray "Pete" Swaim, Jonesville; Michael "Punkin" Swaim, Ronda: brother, Kermit Gray, Ronda; Grandchildren, Keith Mastin, Chris Mastin, Jody (Tonya) Swaim; Great-Grandchildren, Kayla Mastin, Matthew Mastin, Devin Swaim, Chance Mastin. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Dennyville Baptist Church. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM Sunday in the church with Rev. Joel Riley and Rev. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dennyville Baptist Church, 2713 Old State Hwy 60, Ronda, NC 28670.
