Faye Hoots Chaffin

October 8, 1924 — April 7, 2016

Sallie Faye Hoots Chaffin, 91, of Union Grove died peacefully April 7th at the Gordan Hospice House in Statesville after a brief illness. Faye was born in Yadkin County October 8, 1924 to George and Ethel Jurney Hoots. She was a retired farmer and restauranteur, a graduate of West Yadkin High School, attended Mars Hill College, and was a life-long member of Zion Baptist Church. Faye enjoyed travel, gardening, fishing and church and community activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Chaffin; son, John K. Chaffin; daughter, Linda Chaffin; brother Waldo Hoots and sister Kay Lea Rosacker. Surviving are daughters Mary Frances McBride of Lewisville and Vivian Day (John) of Bluffton, South Carolina; Five grandchildren Trey McBride, Derek McBride (Jennifer) Jason Chaffin (Patti) John K. Day and Jessica Chaffin Brown (Mark) and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Charles "Joey" Tomlin officiating. She will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
