MackieYadkinville- Mary Lou Johnson Mackie, 87, passed away on April 30, 2016. She was born o November 24, 1928 to the late William M. and Jessie Reece Johnson of Winston-Salem. She graduated from Gray High School and worked at Mingle Box Company. Mrs. Mackie married Milas Wilson "Jack" Mackie in 1953 and moved to his homeplace in Yadkinville. She was associated with the First Baptist Church in Yadkinville as a Sunday School Teacher, Educational Secretary, and Director of The Children's Center for 25 years. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, a son, Brent Johnson Mackie, and a sister, Clara Johnson Renegar, and husband, Harrell; and a sister-in-law, Faye Whitaker Johnson. Surviving are her devoted daughter, Sarah Lee Mackie; her brothers, William M. (Carolyn) Johnson, Birmingham, Alabama; Rex L. (Betty) Johnson, Advance; Dr. J. Barry (Marilyn) Johnson of Winston-Salem; and many nieces and nephews. Her Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Yadkinville by Rev. Richard Eskew and Dr. Bill Johnson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Heidi Klepin, Dr. James McGrath, Dr. Cathy Shore, and Hospice of Forsyth County (Davie Team) for all their loving care and kindness given to Mrs. Mackie and her daughter.
