Donald Rickie Zachary

Zachary Yadkinville - Donald Rickie "Zack" Zachary, 70, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at his home. He was born January 26, 1946 to the late Howard Gurney Zachary and Mary Kate Sizemore Zachary. Zack was a graduate of Yadkinville High School in 1964, and then joined the Navy and proudly served in Vietnam. He was a member of Pilot View Friends Meeting and also a member of the Yadkin Valley Cruisers. Zack was the owner and operator of Hwy 21 Shell and the founder of Zack's Towing, and later retired from Reliable Tank Line/ Quality Oil Company. Surviving are his fiancé, Carolyn Simmons; one son, Richie (Traci) Zachary; one grandson, Troy "Austin" Zachary; sisters, Phyllis "Priss" Waldie, Kathy (Ron) Boose, Deborah (Sam) Reavis; several nieces, nephews, and special friends. His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Josh Williams and Brother Lawrence Warden. Burial will follow at Deep Creek Friends Cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
