James Daniel Nations

Nations Jonesville- Mr. James Daniel Nations, 92, a loving father and grandfather, of Armstrong Road passed away peacefully Monday May 23, 2016 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center in Elkin, surrounded by his family. He was born July 20, 1923 in Surry County to the late John and Etta Mayes Nations. Mr. Nations was retired from Chatham Manufacturing with 43 years of service, and worked several years as a tobacco farmer. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church, lived his life as a service to others, which was shown by his giving heart, helping his neighbors, and his love for helping children. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Surviving are his beloved, devoted and loving wife of 70 years, Pansy Vestal Nations, of the home; his son, Ronnie Nations, and special friend, Helene Nester, of Winston-Salem; his daughter, Debbie Dezern, and husband, Joe of Jonesville; son, Craig Nations, of Jonesville; 6 grandchildren, Adrian (Andrea) Dezern, Karin (Preston) Ladd, Adam (Megan) Nations, Sara Nations, Wesley Nations, Carrie Nations; 3 Great-grandchildren, Trey Dezern, Zack Dezern, Preslee Ladd; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 PM Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. His funeral service will be 4:00 PM Thursday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Dr. Steve Fowler and Rev. Aaron Misenheimer. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Hugh Chatham Nursing Center for all the loving care, support, and compassion shown to them. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either, Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, 2178 Bethel Rd, Ronda, NC 28670; or Jonesville Elementary School Summer Backpack Program, 101 Cedarbrook Road, Jonesville, NC 28642.
