Jonesville Mrs. Leo Gilley St. John, 90, formerly of Swan Creek, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Hugh Chatham Nursing Center. Mrs. St. John was born June 22, 1925 in Wilkes County to James and Sarah Nixon Gilley. She was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 46 years. Mrs. St. John enjoyed quilting, word searches, and reading. In addition to her parents, Mrs. St. John was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Emmanuel St. John; and nine siblings. She is survived by two children, Opal (Lin) Walker and Kenneth (Melanie) St. John; two grandchildren, Jade (Andrew) Tate and Alli St. John; one great grandchild, Hayden Tate; and three sisters, Mary Adams, Cleo Cheek, Betty Pardue. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 4:00PM at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Swan Creek Baptist Church Mission Fund, 2501 Swan Creek Church Road Jonesville, NC 28642.
