Peggy Jean Somers

Hamptonville Mrs. Peggy Jean Reid Somers, 75, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Somers was born July 2, 1941 in Yadkin County to Rufus Oscar Reid and Fannie Ball Reid Cranfill. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Somers was preceded in death by her husband, James Leo Somers; a son, Jimmy Somers; a sister, Mary Bell Wooten; and two brothers, Jimmy and Harold Reid. She is survived by two children, Suzanne (Robert) Bare and Tracy Somers (Tamara Ford); six grandchildren, Chandler and Grant Bare, Joshua Somers, William and Ashley Bustle, and Alexis Ford; four great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Lane; and other special family members, Becky Tomlin, Beth Gonzalez, Tina Gonzalez, and Junior & Merline Loflin. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 6:00PM at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Pardue and Russ Nixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
