Hamptonville Mr. Ovid Wayne Everidge, 77, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at Hugh Chatham Hospital. Mr. Everidge was born May 30, 1939 in Yadkin County to James and Retha Thompson Everidge. He was a member of Asbury UMC. Mr. Everidge enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and playing football in his younger days in school. He also enjoyed raising and riding horses and canoeing. Mr. Everidge retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. In addition to his parents, Mr. Everidge was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bengy Cox; two sisters, Margaret Ipock and Judy Mauldin; and six brothers, Jack, Sam, Charles, Jim, Joe Clay, and John "Bud" Everidge. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Hazel Hudson Everidge; three daughters, Teresa (Jeff) Sizemore, Rainy Cox, and Starr (Richard) Baity; two grandchildren, Gray Baity and Summer Sizemore; a sister, Elaine (Jimmy) Ireland; a brother, Albert (Levonne) Everidge; sisters-in-law, Georgia Anne Everidge, Linda Everidge, Avon Chandler, and Pattie (Jimmy) Steelman; a brother-in-law, Ernest Mauldin; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, July 8, 2016 at 2:00PM at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville with Pastor Mark Reavell and Pastor Nathan Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at Asbury UMC cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Forsyth Medical Center, Dr. Wolff, and the staff of Chatham Nursing and Rehab for the loving care given to Mr. Everidge.
