David "Gus" Clingman Davis

Yadkinville Mr. David "Gus" Clingman Davis, 78, passed away Friday, July 08, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Davis was born July 2, 1938 in Yadkin County to Sanford and Ola Bracken Davis. He enjoyed farming and gardening, especially sharing his vegetables with Yadkin Christian Ministries and his neighbors. Mr. Davis retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company after 34 years of service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Davis was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jaclyn Stansberry. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sandra Wooten Davis; two daughters, Robin Davis Stansberry and Judith Davis Hoots and husband Ray; five grandchildren, Benjamin Davis Stansberry and wife Amelia, Andrew Steven Hoots and wife Valerie, Sandramarie Hoots, Naomi Hoots Rowsey and husband Rannon, and Davis Ray Hoots; three great grandchildren, Reagan Stansberry, Ezra Rowsey, and Isaac Hoots; and one sister, Mary Davis Hutchens. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 3:00PM at Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Bruce Updyke officiating. Burial will follow at Yadkin Memorial Gardens.
