Fleming East Bend - Betty Lou Sizemore Fleming, sweetheart of George E. Fleming for 58 years, went peacefully on August 7th into the arms of her savior Jesus Christ. Betty was born as the second child, first daughter of Bruce and Mozelle Sizemore on March 16, 1939. Her older brother Dean was there to welcome Betty into the farm house on Nebo Road. Soon Betty would watch as six more siblings entered the Sizemore family Wayne, Kay, Jerry, Max, Frankie and Micheal filling the home with eight Sizemore children, laughter and memories. Betty graduated from Boonville High School class of 1957 where she was crowned homecoming queen and was escorted by the schools handsome lineman, George. Lifelong friends Helen and Larry Hobson would later attend the wedding on November 16th, 1957 at Union Grove Baptist Church. Jack Gentry officiated and then the honeymoon began! Betty's first born was a daughter, Renaee and later two sons Vincent and Scott. While George was a long distance truck driver Betty raised her children, helped her parents with crops and canning and always made sure that a much needed week at Myrtle Beach was scheduled into the busy Fleming summers. After her three kids were in school, Betty filled her days using her artistic skills working at Flowerland Florist. No one in Yadkin county decorated quite like Betty at Christmas! Betty's home has always and still is filled with beautiful arrangements created with her own hands. Betty was a member of Union Grove Church her entire life and loved her church friends as family. She prepared delicious dishes and desserts for neighbors and members whenever asked or needed. Even though Betty has passed her mouth watering pound cake recipe down to family members no one bakes it as good as Betty. Betty only gave birth to three children but later love would bring two more hearts into the Fleming family, son in law Gray Gentry and later a daughter in law, Anita Puckett, wife of Vincent. Betty welcomed both and loved them as her own. Betty's two grandchildren Miles and Rachel loved the days spent on Lake Norman with her. Memories of birthday parties where Betty dressed as a pirate and laughed and spoiled them are priceless! Betty will be loved always and remembered as a loving daughter, sister, sweetheart, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and Christian. George and Betty's family would like to thank Rev. Kenny Gooden for all of his visits and prayers and all the friends and church family that brought food and fellowship over the last years of Betty's life. Also thank you to Hospice and Doctor Suzanne Hilton and staff. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 9th by the Rev. Kenny Gooden and the Rev. Paul Wyatt. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church vestibule.
