Pansy Mae Miller Hobson

Hobson East Bend- Mrs. Pansy Mae Miller Hobson, affectionately known as "Ma", age 99, passed away peacefully at her home on August 11, 2016. She was born October 23, 1916 in Yadkin County to the late Julius Monroe and Myrtle Pardue Miller. She was also preceded in death by her gentle, loving husband of 52 years, Dewey Wesley Hobson, and her gentle, loving daughter Julia Hobson Brown (2014); brothers, Ralph, Fred, Shuford Miller, and sister Martha Jane Brown. Her surviving sibling is Junior (Stacey) Miller. Also surviving are her devoted sons, John Monroe (Connie) Hobson, Garnet Wesley (Lorraine) Hobson, and son-in-law, Foy Brown; grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Kim Hobson Stiles, Sonny (Gina) Hobson, Scott (Kim) Hobson, Nathan (Amanda) Brown, Rachel (Justin) Friel, and Lucas (Courtney) Brown; step-grandchildren, Carmen Shaw, Michael (Kristi) Hobson, Mark (Anna) Turner Hobson, Denny (Valerie) Key, Jr., and Amanda (Bradley) Shore; 6 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. "Ma" worked in the military battery plant in Winston-Salem during World War II; she labored side by side with her husband on the family tobacco farm and huge garden for 52 faithful years. Her work ethic still lives on in the lives of her sons, her cooking/recipes will be imitated/discussed around the table for years to come. Pansy's long abundant life will be celebrated at Union Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member for 80 years, on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Kenny Gooden officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Saturday at the church before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church to go toward the upkeep of the Julia Hobson Brown Children's Playground.
