Everett Herbert Baker

Hamptonville Mr. Everett Herbert Baker, 84, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 at his home. Mr. Baker was born March 23, 1932 in Alleghany County Maryland to Edward and Velma Wagoner Baker. He was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War. Mr. Baker was a member of Woodland UMC. He enjoyed hunting and playing cards. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen McKenzie Baker; his second wife, Eleanor Durst Baker; one son, Barry Baker; one grandson, Caleb Byers; a brother, Carl Baker; and three sisters, June Fissell, Lillian Crowe, and Virginia Arnold. He is survived by six children, Everett (Susan) Baker, Beverley (Paul) Hunter, Noah (Cathy) Baker, Robert (Penny) Caton, Joi (Brad) Byers, and Jeff (Jill) Snyder; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Janice Wilhelm; a brother, Edward Baker; and a daughter-in-law, Amy Baker. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 1:00PM at Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Eddie Usher officiating. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Cumberland, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local hospice facility.
