Lanny Gail Wilkins

Wilkins Jonesville - Lanny Gail Wilkins, 64, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016 at his home. He was born November 21, 1951 in Surry County to the Burley and Margaret Chappel Wilkins. Lanny was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was fun spirited and always enjoyed life. Lanny enjoyed racing, where he raced in the NASCAR modified series. He also enjoyed working on cars and was one of the best mechanics around. Lanny was preceded in death by his wife, DeVerle Hayes Wilkins; father, Burley Wilkins. Surviving are his son, Gregory Gideon Hayes; granddaughters, Holli Hayes, Heather Hayes (Gabriel) Abele, Suzanna Enloe; great grandchildren, Kayden and Brian Enloe; brother, Benny (Kay) Wilkins; daughter-in-law, Kelly Hayes. His funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville by the Rev. Jerry Sizemore. Burial will follow at Bible Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2016 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville, which is serving the Wilkins family.
