Grace Dean Barker

Barker Ronda- Mrs. Grace Dean Soots Barker, 87, of Blackburn Street passed away peacefully Monday, September 12, 2016 at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. She was born August 18, 1929 in Wilkes County to the late Charlie and Lessie Harris Soots. Mrs. Barker was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to her family. She was a devoted Pastor's wife for several years with her husband, the late Rev. Olin Barker, was a faithful prayer warrior for her family, her friends, and the lost. She was a dedicated member of Little Elkin Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Olin Barker on July 21, 2007; by her son, Larry Barker; by her daughter, Linda Staley; and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are her children, Jerry Barker and wife, Janie, of Ronda; Patsy Call of Ronda; her son-in-law, Donnie Staley of Roaring River; Pastor Allen Barker and wife, Jan of Yadkinville; Alice Darnell of Ronda; Janie McCann and husband, Wayne of Roaring River; a sister, Annie Sue Johnson of Ronda; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:30 PM Wednesday at Ronda Baptist Tabernacle in Ronda. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Ronda Baptist Tabernacle by her Pastor Gwen Anderson, and her sons, Missionary Jerry Barker, and Pastor Allen Barker.
