Johnson Hamptonville- Mrs. Pearl Louise Chappell Johnson, 99, of Brown Road passed away Thursday, September 22, 2016 at her home. She was born November 4, 1916 in Yadkin County to the late James "Jim" and Ella Hemric Chappell. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed working in her flowers and listening to Christian Music. She was the oldest member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hamptonville. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, W. Edgar Johnson; her brothers, Weldon Chappell, Lonnie Chappell, Everett Chappell; and sisters, Ada Chappell, Lillie Chappell, Janie Chappell Brown, Freeda Chappell. Surviving are her beloved daughter, Marie Johnson Burton, Hamptonville; her granddaughter, Amy Cothren and husband, David of Traphill; sisters, Betty Chappell and Margaret Wilkins, both of Elkin; a nephew, and 5 nieces. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Larry Lefler and Rev. Darrell Hall. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery by Larry Luffman. The family would like to express their gratitude to the 3rd Floor Staff and Physicians of Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital for their loving care during her recent hospitalization and to Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassion, even though it was for a short while.
