Oscar "Ott" Edwin Boles, Jr., 89, went to be with Jesus in Heaven on Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Elkin Assisted Living. Ott was born in Yadkin County on July 6, 1927 to Oscar Edwin Boles, Sr. and Beaulah Mayberry Boles. He was a graduate of Jonesville High School, served in the US Navy during World War II, and attended Mars Hill College. He went on to work at Chatham Manufacturing in Elkin, N.C. for over 45 years as an Industrial Engineer before retiring. He was a long time and faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Elkin. He was married to Rebecca Carter Boles of State Rd. N.C. for the past 25 years, who survives. Ott was a sports enthusiast and especially loved playing golf and spending time with his friends at Cedarbrook Country Club. He was a charter member of this club when it was organized in 1946. He was a faithful and loyal husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. His favorite scripture was Psalms 118:24 (This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.) It was obvious that Ott loved life and made the most of his days on Earth. He exposed his children to the gospel of Jesus Christ through the Methodist Church which made a lasting impression upon their lives. Ott enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family, and listening to gospel music. He was loved by all who knew him and will be missed and forever cherished. In addition to Ott's wife Rebecca he is survived by his children; Kelly Edwin Boles, Allison D. (C.G.) Hicks; granddaughter India H. (Kip) Plitt; grandson Reid (Katelyn) Hallyburton; a brother Bill (Faye) Boles; a niece Beth B. (Greg) Mickey; a nephew Steve (Debbie) Boles.
