Yadkinville- Robert Lee Fleming, 83, of Eisenhour Street passed away Friday, October 7, 2016. Robert was born on March 9, 1933 in Yadkin County to the late Overlee and Floy Long Fleming. After attending Appalachian State University, he married his college sweetheart, Catherine Ray in 1954. They celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 2014. Robert carried the mail for the US Postal Service for almost 30 years in Yadkin County, and had two missions in life: to make sure everyone was taken care of and to ensure that every person he met cracked a smile at some point in the conversation. He is survived by his wife, Catherine; children, Davis Fleming and Cathy (Randy) Hughes; grandchildren, Erin Hughes and Matthew (Jaclyn) Hughes; sisters, Marilyn Baird and Ann (Alan) Miller; nieces, Jenny (Jim) Friedl and Rebecca (Craig) Harris, nephews, Robert Baird, Jr, Brock (Connie) Baird, and Alan (Margaret) Miller, a host of friends, neighbors, fellow church members, and one very spoiled Boston Terrier. His Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, October 10 at Yadkinville First Baptist Church, by Dr. Bill Johnson and Rev. Dallas Prestwood, and with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Building. A private graveside service for the family will be before the memorial service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Masonic Childrens Home, 600 College St, Oxford, NC 27565 or to Yadkinville First Baptist Church, 304 S State St, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
