James Walter "Walt" McCoy

James Walter "Walt" McCoy, 71, passed away Saturday October 8, 2016. He was born August 9, 1946 to the late Wayne and Eva Ling McCoy. He proudly served in the US Army from 1965-1967. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles Ling. Surviving are his wife Joy Martin McCoy; stepson Marty (Crystal) Church; grandson Brandon H. Church; brother William (Norma) McCoy; brothers in law Brian (Kay) Martin, Tim (Sheree) Martin; many other special family members. The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 6:30 PM Tuesday October 11, 2016 at Elkin Valley Baptist Church. A Celebration of life service will follow the visitation at 6:30 PM at Elkin Valley Baptist Church by Rev. Johnny Blevins and Dr. Stephen Robbins. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Elkin Valley Baptist Church Building Fund 118 N. Bridge Street Elkin, NC 28621 or Woltz Hospice Home 945 Zephyr Rd. Dobson, NC 27017 or Charity of your choice. The family would like to say a very special thanks to the staff at the Woltz Hospice Home for the loving care given to Mr. McCoy.
