Marshall David Baker, 17, passed away peacefully Friday, November 4, 2016 at Brenner’s Childrens Hospital in Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center, after an eight month courageous battle with cancer.  He was born May 31, 1999 in Forsyth County to David and Carol Vriesema Baker.  Marshall was a senior at Forbush High School, played on the soccer and tennis teams, was active with Beta Club, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  He was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church where he was involved with the youth group, worked with mission projects, youth camps, and a member of the stage crew at Center Grove.  Marshall loved spending time with his family and friends, either by boating and tubing at the lake, and especially at the beach where he loved to go coastal fishing with Charles.  He enjoyed working with his Dad in various landscaping jobs, loved to hunt and fish with his Dad, enjoyed riding the golf cart daily with his sister, Selena, and play with his canine companion, Brody.  Marshall enjoyed listening to various Christian Bands, including his favorite groups, NewsBoys, HillSong, TobyMac, and kept his music playing while the Staff of Brenner’s 9th Floor Oncology cared for him.  His strong faith enabled him to remain the same loveable, unselfish, humorous young man who was blessed with the ability to find something positive in everything he faced and everyone he met.  He was preceded in death by his cousin, Lauren Brown.  Those left to cherish the wonderful memories of Marshall are his beloved parents, David and Carol Baker; his loving sister, Selena Baker; his grandparents, Lucy and John Vriesema, Hamptonville;  Roy and Bonnie Baker, Traphill; Aunts and Uncles, Chris and Jill Baker, Michelle and Dave Witthuhn, Melissa and Jeff Brown, Brenda and Tim Doub; and several cousins and friends.   A Celebration of Life service for Marshall Baker will be 2:00PM Friday, November 11, 2016 at Center Grove Baptist Church in Clemmons, NC by Dr. Steve Corts, Rev.
