Zola Kimmer Oliver

Boonville Mrs. Zola “Mamaw” Kimmer Oliver, 92, went home to be with Jesus with her family by her side, Monday, November 7, 2016 at Woltz Hospice Home. Her last moments were spent how she spent the majority of her life singing and praising the Lord. Mrs. Oliver was born October 29, 1924 in Yadkin County to Charles and Pearl Parks Kimmer. She was married to the love of her life, her heart and soul, and the patriarch of the family they built together for 70 years, Rayford Oliver. Zola was a beloved daughter, sister, friend, mother, and Mamaw. She had a heart full of love and grace and spread the light of Jesus wherever she went. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Oliver was preceded in death by her husband, James Rayford Oliver; one sister, Eva Parker; and three brothers, Kenneth, Junior, and Bobby Kimmer. She is survived by six children, Janet (Phillip) Mendenhall, Janie (David) Steelman, Danny (Sandra) Oliver, Neal (Sherri) Oliver, Greg (Tammy) Oliver, and Sandy (Polly) Needham; fourteen grandchildren, Bridget (Joel) Shore, April (Andy) Crissman, Heather Abbott, Holli (Blake) Socin, Amanda (Dusty) Robinson, Julia (Allen) Harrington, Hayley (Tim) Bender, Gretchen Oliver, Kayla (Daniel) Mahr, Garrett (Rebecca) Oliver, Patrick (Laura) Needham, Christopher Needham, Benjamin Needham, and Margie (Jamey) VanKirk; fourteen great grandchildren, Erin and Olivia Crissman, Jordan and Jonah Shore, Allie and Ashlynn Abbott, Steel and Zeke Socin, Luke Robinson, Charlie Harrington, Everett Bender, Klaire Mahr, and Evelyn and Jax VanKirk; one sister, Jenny Henderson; one brother, Sherrill (Mattie) Kimmer; and one sister-in-law, Faye Kimmer. A funeral service will be conducted Friday, November 11, 2016 at 2:00PM at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chatham Nursing and Rehab  Center c/o Carolyn Caldwell Activities Dept. 700 Johnson Ridge Road, Elkin, NC 28621. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hugh Chatham Hospital, Hugh Chatham Nursing Center, Mtn. Valley Hospice, and Woltz Hospice Home, for the loving care given to Mrs. Oliver. Also, Samantha Collins and special niece Carolyn Oliver for always providing the love and care she needed.
