Paul Eugene Hennings

Hennings   East Bend - Hennings, Paul Eugene (86) of Crestwood, KY, formerly of East Bend, NC, passed away on December 16, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lesta and G. L. (Lat) Hennings, and his loving wife of 62 years, Norma Jean (Kelly) Hennings. He is survived by his three sons Steve (Debbie), Brian (Beth) and Joel (Gayle); brothers Grady, Joe and Alvis; sisters Ruth Wooten and Ruby Murphy; grandchildren Christopher, Natalie (Gribbin), Madeline, Joel Jr., Tanner, Paige and Parker. He was an accomplished pilot and served his country with great pride over his thirty year career with the United States Air Force. He achieved the rank of full colonel and served two duties in Vietnam as a fighter pilot and later a bomber pilot, earning three distinguished flying crosses and nineteen air medals. He was a devoted husband to his wife Jean and a dedicated father to his three sons. He taught all who knew him his love of God, family and country. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Gentry Family Chapel, 5108 US Hwy 601, Yadkinville, NC, by the Rev. Kelly Geise, with burial to follow at Baltimore United Methodist Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. Visitation is from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/give/memorials-and-dedications.html) or the Baltimore United Methodist Church Building foundation, 2419 Baltimore Road, East Bend, NC 27018, in his memory.
