Betty Haynes Williams

Hamptonville Mrs. Betty Haynes Williams, 80, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center.   Mrs. Williams was born February 16, 1936 in Surry County to Harvey and Samantha Cheek Haynes. She was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church.  Mrs. Williams enjoyed gardening, baking and reading.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oren Williams; one sister, Helen Walker; and three brothers, Weaver, William, and H.L. Haynes.  She is survived by three children, Gary Stokes, Jan Swaim, and Jennifer Stokes; three grandchildren, Joseph Rose, Samantha (Michael) Reikowsky, and Molly Stokes; three great grandchildren, Eva, Louis, and Phoenix; one sister, Eva Walker; one brother, Clint Haynes; one special “daughter”, Jill Sidden; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Swan Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Bishop officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Jonesville.
