Lucretia Shermer

Yadkinville Mrs. Lucretia “Tish” Shermer, 92, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016.  She was born October 16, 1924 in Davidson County to the late Austin Lafayette Elliott, Sr. and Arlene Barber Elliot.  Mrs. Shermer was a graduate of High Point University and former teacher and basketball coach at Hanes High School in Winston-Salem. She was a talented artist, devoted wife and friend to the community. Tish brought a lot of smiles and fun to those who cared for her.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred Speas Shermer on February 23, 2012; and several brothers. A special thank you is given to her caregivers, Norma, Mindy, Lindsay, Jessie, and Megan.  A memorial service for Mrs. Shermer will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville.  Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville is serving the Shermer Family.  Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
