Yadkinville Mrs. Ann Willoughby Davis, 87, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Brookdale Carriage Club Providence. Mrs. Davis was born September 19, 1929 in Pitt County to Joe E. and Bessie Sutton Willoughby. She lived in Richmond, VA and worked as a secretary until marrying her husband. His career took them to South and Central America. Upon his retirement, they returned to Yadkinville, NC after 25 years of work and travel. In 2013, Mrs. Davis moved to Charlotte due to declining health. Her hobbies included playing bridge, gardening, volunteering in her church, baking, and tackling house renovation projects, especially painting. Mrs. Davis will be remembered for her independent spirit, her positive can-do attitude, and her faith in God. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Luther William Davis, Sr.; and seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by two children, Pam (Wesley) Clark and Luke Davis; three grandchildren, Davis Clark, Anna Clark, and Cole Davis; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Forbush Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Souther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial in the KMD Activity Building. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forbush Baptist Church, 3917 Old US Hwy 421 Yadkinville, NC 27055, to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street Charlotte, NC 28204, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
