Mabel "Peggy" Owens Bruce

East Bend Mrs. Mabel “Peggy” Alene Owens Bruce, 85, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at Yadkin Nursing Center. Mrs. Bruce was born January 14, 1932 in Yadkin County to James and Maddie Robbins Owens. She was a member of Baltimore UMC and retired from Lucent. Mrs. Bruce enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bruce was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Alden Bruce; a daughter-in-law, Twila Bruce; and 11 siblings. She is survived by two sons, David Bruce and Derl Bruce; one granddaughter, Elainna (Yuri) Rickenbacker; two great granddaughters, Zoe and Twila Rickenbacker; two brothers, Harold (Ann) Owens and Roger (Millie) Owens; one sister-in-law, Ruth Owens; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Baltimore UMC with Rev. Kelly Giese officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Baltimore UMC Building Fund, 2419 Baltimore Rd. East Bend, NC 27018.
