East Bend Mr. Craig Pettit, 48, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a brief illness. Mr. Pettit was born August 15, 1968 in Forsyth County to Delmer and Sue Brown Pettit. He was a 1986 graduate of Forbush High School and a 1990 graduate of Campbell University. Mr. Pettit enjoyed fishing, making knives, and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He served as a volunteer firefighter for Forbush Fire Dept. for 22 years and an honorary member since 2015. Mr. Pettit was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frances and Eddie Jester. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Melissa Jester Pettit; two children, Devin and Aubrey Pettit; a sister-in-law, Kim (Clint) Matthews; and a niece and nephew, Makayla and Grayson Matthews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00PM Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Faith Community Baptist Church with Pastor Brian Poindexter and Pastor Brandon Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Gentry Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
