Mildred Matthews Brown

Brown        East Bend-  Mildred Matthews Brown, 89, will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was born July 27, 1927 in Yadkin County to the late Henry and Mae Matthews.  She was a member of Forbush Friends Meeting.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband and love of her life for 63 years, Carl “Toot” Brown; brothers, Fred Matthews, James Matthews, Tom Matthews; sisters, Percy Norman, Jessie Davis, Lucille Brown, and Dorothy Burleson.  Surviving are her devoted daughters, Vicki (David) Stephens, Mitzi (Benny) Hutchens; grandchildren, Valoree (Clay) Wingler, Melanie (James) Summerlin, Garrett Stephens, and fiance', Leighann Waldroup, six great-grandchildren that she adored, Anna Wingler, Caleb Wingler, Lexia Wingler, Allison Douglas, Ashlyn Douglas, James Summerlin; and a sister, Nell Allen.  The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2017 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.  Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM Friday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. David Stephens.  Burial will follow in Forbush Friends Church Cemetery.  The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Pruitt Health and Dr. Patricia Klein for their outstanding support and care.  The family would also like to express their gratitude to Leon and Shirley Brown for their 4 faithful years of delivering her paper to her door, and to all the loving friends and neighbors for their many visits and phone calls including, Kenny and Betsy Brown, Shelba Brown, Ann and Phil Brown, and Kate Hutchens.
