Hamptonville- Max Albert Dickerson, 83, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017. He was born November 9, 1933 in Yadkin County to the late Alfonzo Dickerson and Bertie Bell Dickerson. Max was a member of West Yadkin Baptist Church where he was a deacon and he was a member of Communication Workers of America. He loved gardening, shooting pool with his brother Johnny, traveling, volunteering at Yadkin Christian Ministries, and was very active in church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by Max’s first wife Georgia Mae Seagraves Dickerson; one sister Gladys Dinkins; and one brother Alfonzo Dickerson Jr. He is survived by his wife Geraldine Dickerson; five children Perry (Alesia) Dickerson, Lucretia Brannon (fiancé Chuck Plott), Vince (Melody) Dickerson, Ron Gray (Jill) Dickerson, Don Ray (Lara) Dickerson; five step children Dean (Marshia) Coe, Dwayne Coe, Debbie (Rex) Childress, Libby Barton, Anita Shore (Mutt Beamer); 13 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 22 step great grandchildren; brother Johnny (Carolyn) Dickerson; Max is also survived by his faithful K-9 companion “Buck”. His funeral service will be held Friday March 3, 2017 at Marler Road Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Richard Odom officiating. Burial will follow the service at West Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville, which is serving the Dickerson family.
