Yadkinville-  Mr. Albert Oneal “Buck” Nance, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Yadkin Nursing Center.  He was born March 2, 1936 in Surry County to the late Arvel and Virginia Draughn Nance.  Mr. Nance or “Buck”, as he was lovingly known, was retired with 42 years of service from Hanes Hosiery Inc. He drove a school bus for Courtney Elementary School for over 20 years and had his own mowing business. Buck was a member of the Courtney Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. He was an active member of Turner’s Creek Baptist Church where he served the church faithfully as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, and as a member of the Cemetery Committee.  Mr. Nance graduated from Courtney High School in 1955 and was a veteran of the US Army where he served as a M.P. Officer.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty Vestal Nance; a sister, Bertie White; and a brother, Delbert Nance.  Surviving are his loving children, Karen (Gerald) Wheeler, Alan (Skyland) Nance, David (Tammy) Nance; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Veronia Draughn, Brenda Adams; and a brother, Gilbert (Glenda) Nance.  The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 PM Saturday at Turner’s Creek Baptist Church.  His funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM Saturday in Turner’s Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Scott Welch and Dr. John Shore with Rev. Roy Flynt at the graveside. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346 and the NC Memorial Honor Guard.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Turner’s Creek Baptist Church, 3216 Courtney-Huntsville Road, Yadkinville, NC  27055, Yadkin Nursing Center Activity Fund, 903 West Main Street, Yadkinville, NC  27055, or Yadkin Senior Center, 207 East Hemlock  Street, Yadkinville, NC  27055. The family would like to thank the staff of Yadkin Nursing Center for the loving care given to Mr. Nance.
