Albert Vernon Winters

Mr. Albert Vernon Winters, 87, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was born in Yadkin County on February 5, 1937 to Odell and Hazel Winters. Mr. Winters was a farmer for most of his life. He loved gardening and working in his orchard. Mr. Winters had a produce “store” at his home where he sold his produce, but he had such a generous heart that more often than not he would give away more than he sold. He enjoyed eating, especially anything sweet, and he was always known to enjoy his snuff and had his cup close by. Mr. Winters sincerely loved his community and Shady Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Hemric Winters; sister, Mary W. White; and brothers, Ralph Winters and Donald Winters. He is survived by a sister-in-law, Lavonda H. Boston, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Benfield officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shady Grove Baptist Church, 3808 Center Rd, Boonville, NC 27011, for the North Carolina Baptists on Mission offering. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville is serving the Winters family.
