Wooten East Bend – Mr. Allen G. Wooten, 92, of Forbush Road passed away peacefully Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 1, 1931 in Yadkin County to the late Edgar and Myrtle Hutchens Wooten. Mr. Wooten retired with over 22 years of service as custodian at Forbush High School. He was a faithful life long member of Forbush Friends Meeting and loved to spend his time outside working in his garden, which enabled him to provide produce throughout the community, or sitting on his porch with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Peggy B. Wooten on February 26, 2019; by his son, Randy Wooten; his brothers, Ralph, Benbow, Edgar Vernon, Edsel Wooten; and sisters, Gypsy Fulp, Lillian Phillips, Vicy Gay Key, Cora Hutchens and Ethel Griffin; and 6 infant brothers and sisters. Surviving are his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie W. and Sam Brown; Grandchildren, Allen (Larissa) Brown, Devin (Lindsay) Brown, Jada (Erick) Crist, Jamie (Jake) Hinshaw, Randi Wooten, Brody (Molly) Wooten, Alicia Moore; Great-Grandchildren, Spencer, Silas, Layton, Allie, Dylan, Natalie, Brooklyn; his sister, Barbara Gentry; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in East Bend. His funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at Forbush Friends Meeting by Rev. Jake Penley and Rev. Mitchell See. Mr. Wooten will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
