Annie Lee Cave Leatherman

Annie Lee Cave Leatherman, 85, gained her angel wings Monday, July 25, 2022. She was born in Surry County to the late William Harrison Cave and Nora Hodges Cave. She dedicated her life to being a caregiver for her family, friends and neighbors. She earned several certifications through Surry Community College. During her career, she worked at the local hospital and several nursing care facilities. She retired and took care of her mother at home. Among her many talents were gardening, canning, cooking, quilting, crocheting, seamstress, master costume maker and playing the piano. She was a professional at birthing and raising girls. Later she perfected her skills in the field of grandsons. She enjoyed spending time with her family, working in her flowers and music. She made sure no one left her house hungry. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Rayvon Leatherman; daughters, Charlene Leatherman, and Donna Leatherman; four brothers and four sisters. Surviving are her daughters, Darlene (Carlton) Webb, Ravona (Randy) Abbott, Sherry (Josh) Johnson; grandchildren, Bryan Walker, Nathan (Misty) Walker, Derek Kimmer, Jonathan (Vanessa) Kimmer, Justin (Jessica) Layell, Kurt (Brittany) Layell, Patrick Abbott; eleven great grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by Rev. Brian Poindexter. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Center Memorial Cemetery. The family would like to thank Kristi Mahan and the staff at New Horizon Home Care for all the love and care shown to Annie.
